A Bayelsa-based journalist identified as Bara Ogidi, publisher of tracknews.ng, has been whisked away by officers of Nigeria’s lawless secret police, the Department of State Services [DSS], SaharaReporters reports.
The newspaper reports that Ogidi was picked up in commando fashion in relation to a controversial libel suit which involves Simbi Wabote, Executive Secretary of Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board and Jackson Ude, Point Blank News Publisher.
A source within the journalist’s family disclosed that lawless DSS officers numbering 15, violently stormed the journalist’s residence and swept him away in a commando fashion in the presence of his wife and kids. He was subsequently taken to an unknown destination.
