Lagos State Government has announced that the fourth wave of COVID-19 is over in the state.
The consistent decrease in cases of COVID-19 positivity in the state is an indication of the end of the fourth wave of the pandemic in the state, Lagos State Commissioner for Health Professor Akin Abayomi said.
In an update on his Twitter handle, the Health Commissioner disclosed that there was a sharp reduction in the positive cases of COVID-19 infection in Lagos State. He said as at December 21, 2021 the percentage of positive cases in the State was 29.3% which decreased to 1.9% on January 20, 2022.
According to him, bed captivity utilisation presently stands at only 2% whilst fatality rate is at 0.71%
The Commissioner urged Lagosians to ensure they are vaccinated and to stick to non-pharmaceutical interventions in order to curb the spread of the virus.
