Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, has said that dictator Buhari would not have wasted time in taking action if Abba Kyari were of Igbo origin from South-East of Nigeria.
Following scandalous revelations by a US court that a Nigerian Deputy Commissioner of Police Abba Kyari collaborated with Ramon Abbas [popularly referred to as Hushpuppi] in the commission of several fraudulent activities, the former aide charged the dictator to go after Kyari, who is a Northerner, with the same speed and brutality with which he attacked pan-Yoruba activist Sunday Igboho who is presently detained in Benin Republic after fleeing Nigeria.
“We have to see if Buhari arrests Abba Kyari with the same speed and brutality with which he tried to arrest Sunday Igboho.
“This will help us to assess whether some are more equal than others in Nigeria. Because if Abba Kyari were Igbo, he would have been suspended by now.
Omokri said it is important to see what the Buhari dictatorship intends to do with a policeman who has been tagged “super cop” and whose recent adventure was his appearance at a celebrity burial.
He insisted that the Buhari dictatorship should not attempt to sweep Abba Kyari’s scandal under the carpet because he shares the same ethnicity with dictator Buhari.
CitizensAlert reported earlier today that Hushpuppi pleaded guilty to the charges of money laundering filed against him in the United States of America. He was arrest in Dubai in April of 2020 by Emerati police officers in active collaboration with Federal Bureau of Investigation [FBI] and was moved to the United States to face trial.
Court documents showed that Hushpuppi and Abba Kyari had a mutually beneficial relationship whilst the former lived in Dubai where he committed numerous cyber crimes.
Hushpuppi also told US prosecutors that he bribed Abba Kyari to arrest a fellow cyber fraudster in Nigeria after they fell out having successfully co-duped a Qatari businessperson in tune of $1.1 million, but a disagreement ensued over the sharing percentage of the fraud. An enraged Hushpuppi then engaged Abba Kyari to arrest, detain and torture his rival in Nigeria.
Following the revelation, Abba Kyari took to his Facebook page to dismiss the claims, saying that Hushpuppi only contacted him to buy him traditional clothes.
Kyari’s defence of the allegation against him has sparked laughter in Nigeria.
