Senator representing Abia South Senatorial District Enyinnaya Abaribe has said that the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra [IPOB] Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and members of his group never declared that the governorship election in Anambra State will not hold.
Abaribe insisted that the claims of no-election order were being concocted by the 5th columnists and not Nnamdi Kanu or IPOB.
The outspoken senator spoke during a town hall meeting held in Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, where he confirmed that the no-election order did not emanate from IPOB or Kanu. He said he had spoken with Kanu’s lawyers and they confirmed that the order is not from Kanu or IPOB.
“Who issued the no-election oder in Anambra State? This is not from Kanu or IPOB. IPOB has never at any point stated that there will be no election in Anambra. It is the work of 5th columnists,” Abaribe said.
There has been considerable tension in Anambra State over the November 6th governorship election, with dictator Buhari emptying all police, army, air force barracks across Nigeria to the state. The dictator has also shipped 34,000 personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps [NSCDC] to Anambra and several officers of State Security Services [SSS] as dictator Buhari turns Anambra State into a war zone.
In a statement, IPOB’s spokesperson Emma Powerful had declared a sit-at-home protest between November 5 and 10 in a bid to compel the Buhari dictatorship to release its illegally detained leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Powerful stated that IPOB has no interest in Anambra election or any other election organised by the Nigerian Government.
