Real Madrid sent a warning to title rivals in La Liga Santander after crushing Real Mallorca 6-1 at the Santiago Bernabéu on Wednesday night, September 22, 2021, with Spanish forward Marco Asensio scoring a hat-trick.
Karim Benzema put the host ahead after three minutes of play and his effort was consolidated by Marco Asensio who added a second after 24 minutes. But Kang-In Lee pulled one back at the other end almost immediately after Asensio’s goal.
Eduardo Camavinga took total control of the midfield, providing decisive passes as Madrid asserted their authority with more goals.
Marco Asensio netted two additional goals, including a curling effort from outside the box after he had been put through by Benzema.
Obviously it was a statement from Asensio who has complained about not featuring enough so far this season. The game against Mallorca provided the Spaniard with an opportunity to make a case for himself.
Additional goals for Madrid came in following strikes from Benzema and Isco in what was a night to remember for the all-white capital club.
