Police on Friday, September 10, arraigned a 48-year-old man identified as Mark Onuoha for biting off a woman’s ear.
The man, who pleaded not guilty, was arraigned at an Ikrodu Magistrate’s Court and charged with committing grievous bodily harm.
A police prosecutor, Inspector Christian Okonofua, informed the court that Onuoha committed the crime in Itowolo area of Ikorodu on August 31.
The prosecutor further informed the court that Onuoha assaulted the victim, Rebecca Amosun, by beating her up before biting off her left ear.
The prosecutor argued that the act of Mr Onuoha was in contravention of Sections 173 and 245 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. Section 173 of the Law recommends a one-year jail term for offenders.
The defendant was granted bail of N250,000 with two sureties in like sum by the presiding Magistrate Mrs T. A Shotobi, with the matter adjourned to September 13, 2021 for mention.
