The Lagos State Police Command has refused to sanction CSP Adegoke Akinlade, Divisional Police Officer [DPO] of Denton Police Station who lost his service pistol during sex in office.
The police locked up one Jennifer Madueke with whom CSP Adegoke Akinlade is said to have slept with before his service pistol got missing.
Jennifer was arbitrarily detained and gravely tortured at Denton Police Station in Ebute Metta with the aim of forcing her into making a confession. She was later transferred to the force’s Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Yaba where she is presently detained and is undergoing severe torture.
Jennifer Madueke, 29, previously dated CSP Adegoke Akinlade until the latter was posted out of Lagos in year 2014.
CSP Adegoke Akinlade, despite being married, reignited his affection for Jennifer upon being reposted to Lagos this year, during which their amorous relationship resumed.
On Friday, August 27, CSP Akinlade reportedly invited Jennifer to his office, had sex with her till the following day before seeing her off to the nearest bus stop at about 05:00 AM on the morning of Saturday, August 28.
On Saturday, September 4, CSP Adegoke Akinlade again invited Jennifer to his office under the deceptive claim that they were going for an outing. Upon her arrival, her police lover had her detained, claiming without proof that she had stolen his service pistol.
She was subsequently dumped in cell, thoroughly tortured by the police officers on duty who were acting on the orders of her lover. The DPO also compelled her to make confessional statements under duress.
Despite the unprofessional conduct of CSP Adegoke Akinlade in the scandal, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police Hakeem Odumosu refused to suspend the erring officer to make room for a thorough and transparent investigation, deciding to redeploy him instead.
A statement issued by the Command’s spokesman Adekunle Ajisebutu claimed that the Commissioner of Police will ensure that justice is served on the matter. He further claimed that CSP Adegoke Akinlade, who was having rounds of sex in his office, was redeployed to make way for a diligent investigation into the matter.
Sources at the police command in Ikeja disclosed that Mr Hakeem Odumosu, the Commissioner of Police, may be trying to shield the randy DPO from the crime. Making reference to the case of DCP Abba Kyari who was suspended following his indictment by the FBI in America, the source insisted that the DPO ought to have been suspended rather than a redeployment.
The source said the attitude of the Commissioner of Police towards the scandal has sent a wrong signal to other officers that there’s absolutely nothing wrong with having sex in the office.
Odumosu, a cruel police officer, is known for violating fundamental human rights of citizens during protests whilst covering up crimes by members of his officers.
In March this year, human rights activist Tunde Abass was arbitrarily detained by police in Shomolu area of Lagos for recording a scene of police brutality. He was arrested, tortured for days in detention and threatened with death.
Hakeem Odumosu grudgingly released the activist only when Tunde’s arbitrary detention had gone viral on social media, with police authorities called out for their lawlessness and utter disrespect for fundamental human rights.
Upon his release, Tunde vomited blood for days and ended up in hospital.
