Governor of Ondo State Rotimi Akeredolu has sent a warning to the northern political bloc, saying that the South will not accept a northern candidate for president in 2023.
The governor made the remarks whilst featuring on Channels Television on Friday, September 17.
He insisted that upon the completion of dictator Buhari’s tenure in 2023, the next president of Nigeria must emerge from Southern Nigeria.
“The Southern Governors’ Forum has members from three political parties: All Progressives Congress [APC], All Progressives Grand Alliance [APGA] and People’s Democratic Party [PDP].
“Our position is clear that Nigeria’s next president must come from Southern Nigeria.
“Any party that decides to pick a northern candidate will have to be prepared to face the entire South because they’ll not support such a candidate.
“There has to be rotation. The fairness and justice in it is what we are talking about. If Buhari spends eight years in office, then the next president must come from the South,” Akeredolu insisted.
