The Nigerian Police, who for many years has failed to crush crime in Nigeria, has continued to make illegal arrests at the Lekki Tollgate as more and more protesters continue to get arrested for exercising their fundamental rights.
Citizens Alert has gathered that popular comedian Debo Macaroni is one of the peaceful protesters who has been arrested for exercising his constitutional right to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly.
Since Major-General Muhammadu Buhari assumed office, he has recorded resounding successes in the violation of fundamental rights whilst the economy has been a monumental disaster under his watch. The regime has also burdened the country with debts whilst it remains largely confused and totally incompetent about solving Nigeria’s numerous economic woes.
Recall that on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, the Buhari Dictatorship, through the Nigerian Army, killed unarmed protesters at the Lekki Tollgate during a peaceful demonstration against police brutality in Nigeria. Corpses of victims of the attack were stolen by the soldiers and hurriedly buried in yet to be identified graves without the permission of their families.
As if that was not enough, on February 6, 2021, the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry, set up to purportedly unmask individuals who instigated the Lekki Massacre, controversially ruled that the Lekki Tollgate, scene of the massacre, be re-opened for business, even when the panel has not fulfill its primary obligation for which it was set up.
Following the controversial ruling, a youth representative on the panel Rinu Odua withdrew from the panel in protest, saying she will not be used for a cover up.
