Supporters of pan-Yoruba activist Sunday Igboho have stormed the residence of the activist demanding his immediate release from detention.
The protesters stormed his residence in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital where members of the SSS criminally invaded on the night of July 1, extrajudicially killing aides of the activist before reportedly carting away with money in foreign currencies and jewelleries which the secret police did not disclose to members of the public, according to a statement by Mr Igboho’s spokesman Olayomi Koiki.
Sunday Igboho went underground following the criminal invasion, before he was later arrested in Benin Republic with his German wife whilst leaving Nigeria for Germany.
Since his arrest and detention in neighbouring Benin Republic, there has been an air of apprehension in the South-West of Nigeria where the activist has a considerable number of followers.
CitizensAlert earlier reported that former Chief of Army Staff Yusuf Tukur Buratai who now serves as a “non-career ambassador” to Benin Republic has been making efforts to influence the Government of Benin Republic to facilitate the extradition of Sunday Igboho to Nigeria.
