Nnamdi Kanu’s American lawyer Bruce Fein has threatened to drag Nigerian dictator Muhammadu Buhari and the Nigerian Government to the International Criminal Court [ICC].
Bruce accused dictator Buhari of committing crimes against humanity and the violation of international conventions. He vowed to drag Buhari’s despotic regime to the ICC in order to compel it to comply with international laws.
In a press conference in Abuja, Bruce insisted that Kidnapping and torturing Nnamdi Kanu in Kenya was a violation of Kanu’s fundamental human rights.
“Amongst other moves, I intend to visit the international working group that sits in Geneva. It is a branch of the United Nations as well as a human rights council.
“We’ll pursue this cause with the international community and ensure that everything that transpires with respect to Kanu’s case is under the glaring sunshine and will not be clouded.
“One of the concerns that has been witnessed in the proceedings so far is the gross violation of international laws. Nnamdi Kanu’s abduction is a violation of international laws, so is his torture before he was repatriated to Nigeria. Also, denying him access to his lawyers is a violation of international laws.”
Recall that Nnamdi Kanu was kidnapped in Kenya, detained in a private residence for eight days where he was gravely tortured in total violation of his fundamental human rights before he was handed over to the Nigerian Government.
He was arraigned before Justice Binta Nyanko of the Federal High Court Abuja on June 29, 2021 without the prior knowledge of his lawyers. The judge then ordered that he be detained in the facility of the Department of State Services [DSS]. The judge subsequently adjourned the suit to July 26, 2021.
On Monday, July 26, 2021, the DSS refused to produce Nnamdi Kanu in court in a desperate attempt to frustrate Nnamdi Kanu’s right to be heard. The matter has since been adjourned to October 2021.
Nnamdi Kanu is facing trumped-up charges of treason, illegal possession of firearms, amongst others for merely demanding for the independence of Biafra from Nigeria through a referendum like was recently done in Scotland in their bid to leave Great Britain and UK’s break away from the European Union.
Kanu was compelled to leave Nigeria in 2017 after his Abia residence was attacked by Nigerian soldiers with intent of killing him.
