Doctors in Zamfara State have joined the ongoing indefinite strike embarked upon by members of National Association of Resident Doctors [NARD].
A statement released by the state Chairman of the association Dr. Hussaini Haruna revealed that the Zamfara Chapter of the association decided to join the industrial action in order to put the government under pressure to respond to the demands of the association.
Dr Hussaini disclosed that the failure of the Buhari regime to implement the terms of agreement reached last April when the association embarked on its first industrial action this year resulted in the ongoing strike by the association.
Dr Hussaini said that he expects the regime to act quickly by implementing the agreement of last April so that the doctors can return to work. He insisted that the striking doctors will not return to work if the Buhari regime refuses to implement the terms of agreement consented to by both parties.
CitizensAlert reported on August 1 that members of National Association of Resident Doctors [NARD] had embarked on another industrial action following the refusal of the Buhari dictatorship to implement the terms of Memorandum of Understanding [MoU] agreed upon in April of 2021.
The strike was announced in a statement issued by Dr Uyilawa Okhuaihesuyi, the association’s president.
